It was a nightmare scenario for Michael and Sharon McClintock when they discovered their senior dog, Daisy Mae, had fallen down a sewer out in front of their home and became stuck for hours. The 15-year-old blind and deaf Dachshund had wandered outside while the couple was having their floors redone.
“My stomach turned. I thought she was a goner. I thought she probably fell down on her head and broke her head… just down there dead,” Michael McClintock told Rochester First.
That’s when Officer Lekamp and Corporal Jost of the North County Police Cooperative arrived on scene to help. They were able to spot and track dog footprints in the mud and locate which tunnel Daisy Mae had gone into.
“Unfortunately, I had to lay down completely flat inside the mud, and whatever else was down there,” Officer Jost said. “We were able to find the dog 14 feet in and hook the dog and pull the dog out.”
The dog’s owners couldn’t help but cry as Daisy Mae was brought up to safety. What a heroic effort by these two officers! They saved this senior dog’s life. 🙂
