Man’s Pit Bull Puppy Saves Him By Fighting Off 6-Foot Shark

James White was out fishing in Sonoma County, California, when the unexpected happened. He felt quite the tug on his fishing line, and he spent 10 minutes fighting to reel it in. But on the end of that hook was a six-foot-long shark.

James quickly tried removing the hook from the beast, but the shark fell to the ground and sunk its teeth into his ankle.

“Immediately there was blood everywhere, the first bite punctured an artery. The pressure was intense,” James told NBC Bay Area.

When James called out for help, it was his one-year-old pit bull puppy named Darby who responded. The dog was waiting over by the car parked a few yards away.

The dog rushed over to save his human, biting into the shark. But this made the shark bite down even harder.

“I told him, ‘No, back off,'” James continued. “And then he repositioned and grabbed it by the tail. He literally ran up the hill with it and pulled it off my leg.”

James was then free and able to toss the shark back into the water. Darby is a hero! Who knows how badly this would’ve ended if not for his courageous pooch. 🙂
