Members of The Pocatello Zoo in Idaho were confused when they noticed an elk spending an unusual amount of time near the water trough. Dr. Joy Fox was one of the officials to notice Shooter’s odd behavior and wondered what was up…
Shooter kept dipping his head into the water.
He was doing this for a very long time — a lot longer than what was needed for a drink.
Then he even started pawing at it.
This unusual behavior lasted for about 15 minutes.
Using his antlers to help, Shooter pulled something small and fuzzy out of the water.
It was a marmot! Another resident of the zoo.
At this point, they weren’t exactly sure what was going to happen.
But Shooter simply lay the little guy on the ground. He saved its life!
