Jessica Lewis knew she’d have to leave directly after her last class of the day to be able to safely evacuate before Hurricane Irma rolled through the area back in 2017, so she thought she’d ask. If her professor would allow her to bring her dog to class, it would work out perfectly. It was a longshot, but she decided to send Dr. Kennedy a message.
“Dr Kennedy, my name is Jessica Lewis,” she started off after working up the courage. “I realize the answer to this is probably no, but I thought that you might actually be a cool enough professor to say yes, and so I figured it was worth a shot. Can I bring my dog to class today?”
Jessica and her dog, Luna, needed to leave her college town right after class to be able to make it to her family’s home near Atlanta. But she really wanted to attend the class if at all possible.

Wow! It turns out Dr. Kennedy’s a huge dog lover and was more than willing to welcome Luna to the hour-and-fifteen-minute class.
She was a good dog the whole time! 🙂
Not to mention, the other students really liked having Luna there! 🙂
The dog walked around the room, got lots of pats on the head and made a few friends.
At the end of class, the two were able to safely evacuate thanks to the best professor ever! 🙂
