An amazing yet tearful story posted on The Paper Pegasus is an absolute heart-melter. The first few pictures will hit you hard, and there are simply no words for the end. This is what happened in the words of Shayna.
“Almost one year ago today, my husband and I got a knock on our front door that changed our lives. We could never have imagined what was about to happen. When we opened the door, and we were handed a tiny little creature that at first glance we thought was a mouse. When we took a closer look we realized it was the smallest baby kitten we had ever seen! We couldn’t believe our eyes…”
“Our neighbours brought her to us because her mother had died and she was the only survivor of her litter. They know that I am a huge animal lover and that I’d do whatever I could for this little sweet kitten. We immediately took her inside and made sure she was safe and warm. We named her Lilu.”
“As the days passed, we brought her everywhere with us including a day trip to some hot springs…”
“She even came out for ice cream with us although, she slept the entire time…”
“At home, she loved being around our dogs but, they weren’t so sure what to make of her…”
“With hourly bottle feedings and tons of cuddles, we were growing very close to our new little rescue kitten…”
“After about a week and no weight gain, we took her to the vet to get her checked out. Since we didn’t have much background information on her, they told us to just keep up the good work and bring her back if there were any problems…”
“By the second week, she was still no bigger but she was getting stronger. She was a energetic little kitten and she was determined to learn how to walk…”
“We were hopeful that she would make it and so when we woke up one night for one of her feedings, we were horrified to find her lifeless. Our little Princess Lilu had passed away in her sleep. To say we were heartbroken doesn’t even begin to describe what we felt. It’s amazing what losing a tiny little kitten can teach you about life and love. We still miss her tiny little face and her big blue eyes. She was only with us for 3 short weeks but we’ll remember her forever.”
Many thanks to Shayna and Brandon for sharing their beautiful, touching story. For every sad rescue story, there are many more happy ones. Stories like this sure teach us a lot about life and love. If you feel the same, please share this to help raise awareness for animal rescues everywhere.
