Police visited a property in rural Tennessee about a legal matter, but no one was home — except for 22 neglected dogs. The police and animal rescue teams returned with a warrant and confiscated the abused pups. It was the most horrific scene they’d ever witnessed.
One dog realized that this was the moment they were being saved, and his smile just about said it all. Most of the dogs exhibited signs of neglect including mange and dehydration. They were taken to the animal rescue center to receive the care needed, and local shelter organizations will help them find forever homes when they’re ready.
The owners have been arrested and are facing animal cruelty charges.
