After 756 Days In The Shelter, Nine-Year-Old Beagle Mix Finds Forever Home

It’s no secret that people are more likely to adopt puppies when scouring the animal shelters for a new pet. But this leaves the older dogs, and dogs with health issues, behind to stay in their kennels. And oftentimes, the waits are far too long — possibly even death sentences.

For a 9-year-old Beagle/pit bull mix named Rose, it meant a wait of 756 days at the Humane Society of Scott County with seemingly no end in sight. The dog had some vision and skin issues, so people would just pass her by. But she’s now in a loving forever home to finally live her life like an actual pet! 🙂

Applications to adopt young, healthy dogs pour into the shelters. Very few come through willing to take in an older dog who might require a little extra love and work. Shelters everywhere are hoping Rose’s story brings awareness to those dogs who are often overlooked and just need love like everyone else.
