Dog Activist Investigates Rumor And Finds Cruel Sled Dog Farm

Animal activist and filmmaker Fern Levit heard a rumor of what was done with sled dogs during the offseason and became curious. She poked around a bit and followed up and found a sled dog farm on the private property of Chocpaw Expeditions.

It was a horrible and heartbreaking sight. About 200 sled dogs kept outside in the nearly 100-degree temperature tied to the shortest chains. With nowhere to go and nothing to do, the dogs were wearing down mentally and physically.

Unfortunately, these farms are somewhat typical of the industry and stay within legal parameters by feeding the dogs.

The video below shows the cruel and despicable environment these beautiful dogs were subjected to during the seasons the people had no use for them. If these dogs weren’t pulling sleds, they were worthless in their eyes.

The investigation helped launch a fight for better welfare for sled dogs everywhere, and we hope authorities continue to do whatever is necessary to save the innocent dogs.
