Young Girl Was Beaten And Held Captive Until Three Lions Showed Up

Young Ethiopian girls are often abducted and forced into marriage. But this NBC News story of one particular 12-year-old girl had a happy ending thanks to three lions. A group of seven men had taken the girl with the intention of making her marry one of them.

Little did the abductors know, a group of three lions had been watching over the girl the whole day.

The lions saw the girl being beaten and charged at the men, chasing them away.

The magnificent beasts proceeded to stand guard and protect the girl until the police arrived to find her.

“They stood guard until we found her, and then they just left her like a gift and went back into the forest,” a police investigator told NBC News.

According to a wildlife expert, the girl may have been saved because she was crying.

“A young girl whimpering could be mistaken for the mewing sound from a lion cub, which in turn could explain why they didn’t eat her,” said Stuart Williams.

The girl had to be treated for cuts from her beatings but was lucky to have three guardian angels watching over her that day.

Mother nature and the animal kingdom never cease to amaze.
